Fondazione Cirulli is pleased to announce the opening of the new documentary exhibition Propaganda. The Art of Political Indoctrination. The exhibition aims to analyze the mechanisms of political propaganda through the study of Italian history of the first decades of the twentieth century (1922-1948).

The exhibition intends to present and historically contextualize this controversial material: Propaganda will prompt visitors to question the dividing lines between the visual appeal of works of art and their bankruptcy and totalitarian ideology, and to reflect on the uses of propaganda in contemporary society.

Particular attention is dedicated to documents, posters and works of art of the 1920s, followed by a series of works on the margins of this historical period that help to contextualize the exhibition itinerary, which ends with a focus on the Italian reconstruction and on the Italian elections in 1948.

Presented at Casa Italiana Zerilli-Marimò at NYU in March 2020, the exhibition is now proposed in the spaces of Fondazione Cirulli Factory.
