The Animated Archive is an unconventional archive, a declaration of intent, a manifesto. In its first year of life it was filled with content, surprises and things to discover—artworks emerged from our storage and enlivened our exhibition halls, giving visitors the opportunity to explore extraordinary, unpublished materials only known to a few researchers and scholars.

"… To expose and celebrate the heterogeneity of the Cirulli collections (rather than conceal them); its bridging of the domains of fine art, decorative art, craft, and material culture". This was one of the main goals identified with Jeffrey Schnapp for the mission of this project, and we believe to have achieved it—so much so that Fondazione Cirulli will continue to adopt this format for its upcoming exhibitions, as new topics will "come alive" with the new year
