Conversation with the author | Think beyond design: Marco Scotti meets Giorgio de Mitri

Fondazione Cirulli is continuing the conversation series with the authors of the essays in the UNIVERSO FUTURISTA exhibition catalogue.

The second meeting will feature Marco Scotti (CSAC, University of Parma), author of  the essay Rivoluzione tipografica and Giorgio de Mitri, founder and creative director of Sartoria Comunicazione in Modena. T.B.D. or Think beyond design or how do we think beyond the traditional concepts of design and project? on Friday, February 22 at 6.30 pm.

Taking cue from the section of the catalogue dedicated to the typographic revolution and its battles, experimentations and innovations, Marco Scotti will answer this question in a dialogue with Giorgio de Mitri.

The two will discuss de Mitri's experience in various fields of visual communication and his relationship with artists, designers, various advertising campaigns, as well as his many encounters with vastly different realities.

Marco Scotti is a PhD in History of Art, currently Research Fellow at CSAC, University of Parma, curator and historian of contemporary art. His research has been focused upon post-war visual art, history of advertising, digital archives and game studies. He is a professor for the video game screen writing course at the Accademia Santa Giulia in Brescia, and  worked as a curator of the projects personal effectsonsale and personal foodonsale, of the XXXII Biennale Roncaglia, 48th Premio Suzzara and the exhibition Ettore Sottsass, Oltre il Design at CSAC. He created, together with Elisabetta Modena, the digital museum MoRE www.moremuseum.org, an archive dedicated to unrealised contemporary art projects. He is editor-in-chief of the on-line journal Ricerche di S/Confine, and  collaborates with the magazine Zero.

Giorgio de Mitri is an Italian creative director, editor, and curator. He is the founder and director of Sartoria Comunicazione based in Modena. He is also the founder and president of Fondazione de Mitri, Modena, an institution dedicated to art and culture and is currently the editor of the magazine "Cube". His professional path has crossed the realm of cinema and theater, of club culture, editorial production, fashion, and art. This experience has led de Mitri to develop an original approach to integrated communication for brands such as Nike, Converse and Philip Morris, based on the encounter between a company's commercial needs and the expressive prerogatives of the artists.
