La Grande Guerra

Società propaganda consenso

from 03/04/2015 to 23/08/2015

Gallerie d’Italia - Palazzo Zevallos Stigliano
Via Toledo, 185
Napoli
Italia

The exhibition describes the dramatic transition from an era of great economic and social transformations, when part of the society (the new rich) begins to experience the pleasure of comfort and superfluous, to the outbreak of the war when, suddenly, everything changes.

At the beginning of the XX century advertising posters are  a modern communication tool and a new field for visual experimentation; at the outbreak of the war they become powerful  propaganda vehicle. Figurative codes change since they don’t have to catch the attention of a potential consumer anymore but they have to make people aware of their duties, in wartime.

The exhibition is organized on the occasion of EXPO 2015 and coinciding with the scheduled events to celebrate the centenary of World War I, all over Europe.

It is part of the Intesa Sanpaolo Bank's Museum circuit and is on display in three different locations called “Gallerie d’Italia” in Milan, Naples and Vicenza. The Archive participates at the event in Naples.
